An Inspiring Trip to Sky Studios

Our GCSE Media students had the exciting opportunity to visit Sky Studios in London — an experience that brought the world of television and media to life!

During the visit, students were given an exclusive tour of the Sky campus, including access to the renowned Sky Sports Studio. It was an eye-opening experience to witness how live television is produced in real time and to see the scale and professionalism of one of the UK’s leading broadcasters.

The highlight of the trip was a hands-on filmmaking workshop, where students were divided into teams and assigned professional industry roles such as director, producer, actor, and editor. Using state-of-the-art cameras and editing technology, each team worked collaboratively to plan, shoot, and edit their very own film trailer. This gave students a real taste of what it’s like to work in a high-pressure media environment and the level of creativity and teamwork involved.

We’re incredibly proud to share that one student was highly commended by the Sky staff for their creativity during the workshop — a fantastic recognition of their talent and enthusiasm.

Students were also encouraged to explore Sky’s careers hub, where they learned about the wide range of career pathwaysavailable, including apprenticeship schemes in everything from journalism and production to technology and business. It was an inspiring reminder of the exciting opportunities that exist beyond the classroom.
