Year 11 Preparation for GCSEs Information Evening for Parents and Carers

Dear Parents and Carers,

You are invited to attend the Year 11 Preparation for GCSEs Information Evening for Parents/Carers on Monday 9th February at 6pm in the Main School Hall.

The evening is designed to provide parents/carers with the key information needed to support their child in the run-up to the GCSE exams in the Summer Term. Based onkm experience from previous years and feedback from parents/carers, the evening will focus on the following:

The Science of Learning – how students can best prepare for their exams, including what the most effective types of revision are and how to plan revision time.

Calendar of Events – a breakdown of the remaining weeks before, during and after the exams. This will include information on the immersion timetable, the use of study leave and other Year 11 based events.

Examination Expectations and Regulations – an outline of the regulations all students sitting external exams must follow, as set by the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ), and what to do in the event of illness or other unforeseen events.

How You Can Support Your Child – advice and guidance on things parents/carers can do at home and the resources available to support students when revising at home.

The evening is primarily designed for parents/carers, though you are welcome to attend with your child if you wish; the content of the evening is aligned with the assemblies and presentations already given to their year group.
