Careers

A good Careers Education programme is vital if our students are to be inspired, raise their aspirations, work hard and make the most of opportunities available to them.

The vision of Woking High School’s Careers education programme is to provide our students with the opportunity to plan and manage their careers effectively, ensuring progression which is ambitious and aspirational. It promotes equality of opportunity, celebrates diversity and challenges stereotypes.

Our Careers Education programme is based around the framework of eight Gatsby benchmarks of Good Careers Guidance and includes careers education and work-related learning lessons, specific Aspire to Be activities, partnerships with local colleges and universities, linking with local employers and a comprehensive work experience programme. The benchmarks are:

  • A stable careers programme
  • Learning from career and labour market information
  • Addressing the needs of each pupil
  • Linking curriculum learning to careers
  • Encounters with employers and employees
  • Experiences of workplaces
  • Encounters with further and higher education
  • Personal guidance

If you have any questions regarding any aspect of Careers, please contact our Careers Coordinator Miss C Jarman (working hours are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 9am-4pm) or our Careers Lead, Mrs M Abbs-Rowe.
