Woking High School Instrumental and Vocal Competition
Wednesday 17th March, 7.00 pm
On Wednesday 17 March, the school will host an evening of music with proceeds in aid of Cystic Fibrosis and Woking High School Music Performance Fund. This special instrumental and vocal competition will witness performances in various categories including brass, woodwind, percussion, strings, voice and pianoforte. Students throughout the school have auditioned to enter this competition and will be given the opportunity to perform in public, for the first time in some instances.
During the evening, competition entries will be interspersed with music provided by various ensembles, including Woking High School Windband, the String Ensemble and the School Choir, Vocalise.
Special guest judges have been invited to listen and deliberate before awarding certificates, and the 'Lorna Paterson Award for Special Achievement in Music’. This competition helps to promote even higher standards of musicianship from the talented musicians at Woking High School as well as raising funds for a worthy charity.
Tickets are priced at £2 for concessions and £5 for adults and are available from the Main Office, payable by cash or cheque. Tickets can also be purchased on the door.
Last years outstanding winner, Alex Campbell, will perform on piano as a special guest, before handing over the Lorna Paterson Cup to the overall winner.

Year 7 Feedback Evening - Internet safety presentation and subject abbreviation codes
On Tuesday 29th September we held our Year 7 feedback evening. A number of parents requested a key to the subject abbreviations used on the student timetables. Please click here.
We have also attached a copy of the Internet safety presentation for your information. Please click here.

Important notice for all 28 Bus Users
We can now confirm that Arriva have agreed to amend their timetables to facilitate a bus in the morning from the Goldsworth Park area towards Horsell, on schooldays ONLY.
Their existing service 134 which runs from Camberley to Guildford via Knaphill, Littlewick Road, Horsell and Woking is to be diverted from 5 October to operate via the "old" bus 28 route between Knaphill and Horsell High Street via Goldsworth Park. It is timed to leave the Waitrose stop at 0800 so the times at the other stops can be estimated accordingly.
Although the bus will reach Horsell somewhat earlier than the 28 used to, it leaves time for students to walk up to the school. It has been suggested that this new bus would be better than nothing at all or relying on taking a 91 to Woking and changing, or a 91 to Sythwood and then walking. Unfortunately, we understand the County Council is not in a position to provide anything further.

Surrey Schools Response to Swine Flu
All Surrey Schools have received the following advice from the HPA:
"Schools need to take no specific action regarding swine flu. Any children who have been to an affected country, or had close contact with someone who has, and have become unwell, should stay at home and contact their GP or NHS Direct for advice and possible follow up. In the meantime, the advice contained on the HPA website (www.hpa.org.uk) is being updated daily and provides plenty of information"
