What is Investor in Careers (IiC)?
IiC is a set of standards against which the quality of Careers Education and Guidance (CEG) provision can be measured.
It provides a framework for continuous improvement of CEG. The award is valid for three years when reassessment takes place. |
Why should we work towards IiC?
IiC will assist WHS to:
-
Provide a quality CEG programme in conjunction with the National Framework to maximise the potential of students
-
Integrate careers education and guidance with citizenship, personal, social and health education and the main curriculum
-
Promote inclusiveness
-
Highlight the relevance of school activities to the world or work and gain recognition for excellence
-
Support all students in achieving their full potential for economic well being, meeting the Every Child Matters and the Extended Schools Agenda
-
Exceed Ofsted inspection requirements for CEG
-
Meet quality criteria in DCFS National Framework for CEG 11-19
-
Provide transferable evidence for the SEF
-
Provide transferable evidence for Ofsted
-
Ensure public recognition of quality and good practice
-
Demonstrate partnership working with other organisations such as Connexions, parents, local employers and other community links.
What does it involve?
IiC is a three stage evidence-based process, each of which is accredited.
Stage 1 (Commitment Certificate) has been achieved the Action Plan 2008/9
identifies completion of Stage 2 by the end of the Autumn term 2008 and Stage 3 by Summer Term 2009. To complete all 3 stages schools must provide portfolio evidence that they have achieved ten specific outcomes. Stages 2/3 are also externally assessed by a registered assessor. Stage 3 also requires a student/staff presentation and interview with a IiC panel of inspectors.
Governor Involvement
Governors are regularly updated and Hannah Collett has kindly agreed to act as Link Governor.
